Dr. des. Stefan Hofmann

From 2012 to 2025 Research Associate at the Project »European Traditions – Encyclopedia of Jewish Cultures« of the Saxon Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Leipzig.
He was an editor of the Encyclopaedia of Jewish History and Culture (7 vols., 2011–2017) and subsequently coordinated the translation of the work into English (7 vols., 2017–2025). He was also a copy-editor of the series »Library of Jewish History and Culture« and »Archive of Jewish History and Culture«. He studied Medieval and Modern History, Theatre Studies, and Journalism at the universities of Leipzig, Binghamton, N. Y., and Haifa, completing his MA degree at Leipzig University in 2011. PhD in 2026 at the Leipzig University; subject of PhD thesis: »Von Masken und Mimikry. Akkulturation und Judenfeindschaft auf deutschen Bühnen im 19. Jahrhundert«. In 2007 he received a Fulbright grant to Binghamton University. In 2006 he was student assistant at the Dubnow Institute; from 2008 to 2012 he worked as student, and later as academic assistant at the Academy Project »European Traditions – Encyclopedia of Jewish Cultures«.
