Moritz Schmeing has been a research fellow at the Leibniz Institute for European History (IEG) in Mainz since June 2026. From 2020 to 2026, he was a PhD candidate at the Dubnow Institute, funded by the Hans Böckler Foundation from 2021 to 2024 and, since December 2024, as a fellow of the Ettersberg Foundation. In 2025, he was an academic assistant at the cooperative project »Turning Object into Subject. Communicating Jewish Everyday Culture in Germany«.

Studied Cultural Studies, History and Political Science at the universities of Leipzig, Jena and Krakow and completed his MA degree in 2019. Subject of the Master’s thesis: »Josef Schmitz. Ein Ultralinker in der westmünsterländischen Provinz«.
