Bohemia’s Jews and Their Nineteenth Century. Texts, Contexts, Reassessments

Book Presentation with Jindřich Toman

On Wednesday, 29 November 2023, 5 p.m., Prof. Dr. Jindřich Toman, professor at the University of Michigan and visiting scholar at the Leibniz Institute for the History and Culture of Eastern Europe (GWZO) in Leipzig in November, will present his publication »Bohemia’s Jews and Their Nineteenth Century. Texts, Contexts, Reassessments«. In it, Toman examines Bohemian Jewish culture and literature from the 1820s to the 1880s, a scarcely written-about period of time in Bohemian Jewish history.

An introduction to the book by the author will be followed by short impulse comments by Dr. Nicolas Berg (DI) and Stefan Hofmann (SAW). Prof. Dr. Frank Hadler (GWZO) and Dr. Enrico Lucca (DI) will be the moderators.
