Lecture Series of the Dubnow Institute

Jewish Material Cultures in East-Central Europe in the 20th Century

On Thursday, April 4, 5.15 p.m., Prof. Dr. Leora Auslander of the University of Chicago will open with her lecture »Jewish Things? Material Culture and Jewish Studies« the research colloquium of the Dubnow Institute in the summer semester 2019. The colloquium entitled »Jewish Material Cultures in East Central Europe in the 20th Century« approaches the Jewish history of East Central Europe in the 20th century from the perspective of its material cultures. The focus is on central places and institutions such as Jewish-theological seminars, museums, libraries and collections in the period before, during and after the Second World War. The colloquium will take place on Thursdays at 5.15 p.m. at the Dubnow Institute. Participation is free of charge and without advance registration.
