Studied Tajik (Persian) philology at the National University of Tajikistan (Dushanbe) and philosophy and social sciences at the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan (Dushanbe). Doctoral Candidate and Junior Researcher at the Faculty of Philosophy and the Center for Development Research at the University of Bonn between 2006 and 2011; subject of PhD thesis: »Kinship and Islam: The Role of Collective Identities in Shaping Institutional Order of Patronage in Southern Tajikistan«.
