Working at the Dubnow Institute as a Research Associate in the »Ignaz Goldziher Program« from 2022 to 2023. Since 2023 affiliated researcher.

Studied Tajik (Persian) philology at the National University of Tajikistan (Dushanbe) and philosophy and social sciences at the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan (Dushanbe). Doctoral Candidate and Junior Researcher at the Faculty of Philosophy and the Center for Development Research at the University of Bonn between 2006 and 2011; subject of PhD thesis: »Kinship and Islam: The Role of Collective Identities in Shaping Institutional Order of Patronage in Southern Tajikistan«. From 2011 to 2013 Postdoctoral Researcher of the Research Project »Epistemic Cultures and Local Governance of Agricultural Knowledge in Post-Soviet Tajikistan and Georgia,« Center for Development Research at the University of Bonn. From 2015 to 2016 Postdoctoral Researcher of the Research Project »Local Security-Making in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan: The Production of Securityscapes by Everyday Practices,« Bonn International Center for Conflict Studies (BICC). From 2019 to 2021 Postdoctoral Fellow of the Philipp Schwartz Initiative, Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Bonn International Center for Conflict Studies (BICC) and Visiting Researcher at the University of Bonn. Research stays at Ohio State University in 2005 and at INTRAC (the International NGO Training and Research Centre), Oxford from 2002 to 2003. Director of the Summer School Program of Open Society Institute for Tajikistan from 2001 to 2002.

Central Asian ethnic, linguistic and religious minorities
Radicalization processes among Muslims and the related political discourses and practices of existential danger
Existential security and everyday practices of people (theoretical and methodological aspects)
