Aside from classic antisemitism, two new forms of this hatred played a role in theorizations of antisemitism after 1945. The first of these was secondary antisemitism, which places the relativization or denial of the Holocaust at the core of anti-Jewish hate. The second is a form of anti-Jewish hate that is focused specifically against the State of Israel and Zionism. This seminar will serve to present and discuss foundational texts on the theoretical engagement with classic antisemitism and anti-Judaism and on these newer manifestations of antisemitism. It will also be dedicated to the question of how these theories try to explain antisemitism.

Literature: A seminar reader will be provided before the first session.
