The Right to Forget – Why Did Kafka Ask to Be Forgotten
Lunchtalk with Dr. Noam Tirosh
On 30 April 2025, 11.30 a.m., we have the special opportunity to listen to a Kafka lecture from a communication and media theory perspective at the Dubnow Institute. Dr. Noam Tirosh from Ben Gurion University Ber Sheva (Israel), who is currently conducting research at the Research Centre Global Dynamics at the invitation of Prof. Dr Christian Pentzold (Leipzig University, Institute for Media and Communication Studies), will be a guest at the DI.
The lunchtalk is in English and part of Mr Tirosh's field of research, which is generally dedicated to questions and problems of memory and forgetting rights in the (digital) modern age. Kafka, who asked his friend Max Brod to destroy his estate before his death, can be interpreted in this view as a symbolic advocate of forgetting and the associated dimension of freedom.
