Jüdische Sprachkritik nach dem Holocaust
New special issue of »Zeithistorischen Forschungen«
The current issue of the journal »Zeithistorische Forschungen« is dedicated to the functionalization of the German language for National Socialist rule and the criticism of it. This criticism was particularly voiced by Jewish authors; it was linked to concrete biographical experiences of exclusion. Language-critical studies, dictionaries and glossaries showed how language could become a component of Nazi crimes: through manipulation of and with it, through euphemisms and neologisms. The »Zeithistorische Forschungen« are published in print by Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht and in open access. Guest editors of the current special issue are Nicolas Berg, Elisabeth Gallas (both Dubnow Institute) and Aurélia Kalisky (Centre Marc Bloch, Berlin).
