Jüdische Diplomatie und zionistische Politik. Richard Lichtheim im Zeitalter der Weltkriege
Book Presentation at the Dubnow Institute

On Wednesday, 20 September 20, 7.30 p.m., author Andrea Kirchner will present her two new publications on the life and work of Jewish politician and diplomat Richard Lichtheim at Leipzig's Dubnow Institute. The conversation with Yfaat Weiss and Markus Kirchhoff will focus on his decades-long efforts to represent the interests of Zionists towards the ruling powers of the time.
For decades, Richard Lichtheim represented the interests of the Jewish national movement and the Yishuv. During the First World War, he worked to prevent the expulsion of the Jews from Palestine. During the Second World War, he was one of the first to recognise that the National Socialists aimed at the systematic extermination of European Jewries. In a moderated discussion, Yfaat Weiss (Jerusalem/Leipzig) and Markus Kirchhoff (Leipzig) will discuss two new publications on the topic with the author and editor Andrea Kirchner (Berlin).
Afterwards, the organisers invite you to a reception with the opportunity to view the exhibition »Jewish Album« with photographs by Rita Ostrovska.
