Just released: Eighth Issue of the Magazine
Jewish History & Culture. Magazine of the Dubnow Institute

The new issue of »Jewish History & Culture. Magazine of the Dubnow Institute« focuses on Mount Scopus—the founding site of the Hebrew University and a symbolic viewpoint overlooking Jerusalem. Throughout the issue, the continuity of crisis that persists to this day becomes evident.
The articles shed light on architectural visions, the construction of the campus by British-Jewish contributors and the work of dedicated protagonists, they further examine contacts with Arab scholars and the paths taken by Jewish academics from Germany who applied to the Hebrew University after 1933. Finally, the tense period of the exclave (1948 to 1967) and the forced move to Givat Ram are addressed.
The permanent sections cover the recent Kafka anniversary year, the history of Zionist climate research in Palestine, examples of inter-museum transfers in the twentieth century, as well as the Jüdischer Almanach (2024), which compiles perspectives from Israel following October 7.
The magazine of the Dubnow Institute offers insights into the diversity of Jewish lived experiences from modernity into the present. Each issue is dedicated to a specific theme, examining topical questions, establishing fundamental connections, and discussing contrary perspectives. Further aspects of the respective topic are discussed in the columns Position, Critique, and Archive.
