Film »The Zone of Interest«

As part of the »Wissenschaftskinos Leipzig« series, the Dubnow Institute, in cooperation with the City of Leipzig's Department of Knowledge Policy, is screening the feature film by British director Jonathan Glazer »The Zone of Interest«, which won the awards for Best International Film and Best Sound at the 2024 Academy Awards. After the screening, the audience is invited to discuss the historical context and cinematic representation strategies with historian Axel Doßmann (Berlin). Admission is free.

Dr. Axel Doßmann teaches and conducts research on the cultural and media history of National Socialism and communism. In the current issue of »Jewish History & Culture. Magazine of the Dubnow Institute« he reflects on insightful and controversial perspectives on the film »The Zone of Interest«.
