October 7, 2023 will be an incomparable turning point for Israelis. From now on, there will only be a before and an after. The pure scale and outrageous brutality of the Hamas attacks, the hostage-takings and a war longer than any before have traumatized the nation. The foundations on which people felt secure in their own state have been deeply shaken. How can a new beginning succeed here?
