The Faculty of History, Art and Area Studies, Chair of Modern History, especially Jewish History (Professor Yfaat Weiss) seeks to fill the above position from 1 March 2024.
The DFG-funded International Research Training Group (IRTG) "Belongings: Jewish Material Culture in Twentieth-Century Europe and Beyond" will commence its work at Leipzig University in mid-2024 in cooperation with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Leibniz Institute for Jewish History and Culture – Simon Dubnow. As part of a structured graduate training program, innovative research work in the field of Jewish material culture will be carried out in close cooperation between the two locations Leipzig and Jerusalem. Three faculties at Leipzig University are involved in the interdisciplinary program, whose representatives bring together expertise from the fields of 19th- to 21st-century European and Jewish history, German and Slavic studies, philosophy, cultural studies, and art history. The activities of the IRTG at both locations aim to provide joint German-Israeli doctoral training, the first of its kind in the humanities.
About the position
- Fixed term until 31 July 2029
- 50 % of a full-time position
- Planned remuneration: salary group E9a TV-L
Duties
- Administrative project management and reporting in a Research Training Group with international project partners; advising project members on all administrative matters, resource planning and monitoring
- Administration of the project budget including the preparation of periodic reports; project-related correspondence with the funding institution
- Participation in public relations activities, including the creation of information material, maintenance of the website and social media channels; organization of events (including recording of meetings)
- Preparation of personnel-related processes (job advertisements, recruitment documents)
- Service-oriented support for national and international guests
- Planning and organization, and settlement of research trips
- General administrative and organizational tasks (including communication in English).
Requirements
- Completed vocational training in administration or finance or at least an equivalent relevant qualification
- Relevant professional experience in finance, accounting and budgeting, in particular in the administration of external funding for research projects
- In-depth knowledge of project management, preferably in research projects
- Knowledge of regulations concerning travel expenses and budget law in the public sector
- Confident use of Microsoft Office programs
- Very good knowledge of written and spoken English
- Friendly and service orientation, communicative skills
- Structured and solution-oriented work-style, strong organizational and team skills.
