Leipzig Studies on Jewish History and Culture

The Simon Dubnow Institute launched its second journal, the Leipzig Studies on Jewish History and Culture, in 2003. It is intended to supplement the Yearbook and to serve as a forum for wide-ranging discussion of the key questions in the history of the Central, East Central, Eastern and Southern European Jewries.

A common aim of the Leipziger Beiträge and the Jahrbuch/Yearbook is to develop and deepen the general profile of research of the Simon Dubnow Institute. Jewish history, due to its distinctive character as a history transcending geographical boundaries and categories of the nation-state, is especially suitable for sharpening insight into the bigger picture of the historical canvas, helping to move toward a more integrated history of Europe.

The Leipziger Beiträge and its diverse contributions thus also aim to stimulate thinking on a more intensified interdisciplinary discourse between Jewish and other »partial histories«.

The Leipziger Beiträge series are forthcoming at the Leipziger Universitätsverlag; volume 1 to 3 have been published by K.G. Saur Verlag.
